Students entering MLSI have a choice of the following language classes:
- Hindi
- French [optional]
- Spanish [optional]
- Marathi
Parents are requested to complete the language option form and return it to the school’s office as soon as possible.
The structure of the Modern Foreign Language courses is based on 3 levels:
French, Spanish, Hindi Level 1
This introductory course acquaints the student with basic vocabulary, grammar and aspects of civilization through the use of a wide range of resources textbook, workbook and audio material. Upon completion the student will be able to fulfill basic communication needs including personal information and daily routine using the four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
French, Spanish, Hindi Level 2
This course gives students a wider command of basic language structures and vocabulary. Both the spoken and the written aspects of the language will be developed. Students will expand receptive skills appreciating cultural diversity in an intercultural communicative approach.
French, Spanish, Hindi Level 3
This course develops the fundamental skills of learning a second language with an emphasis on oral communication, both listening comprehension and speaking. Students also acquire reading and writing skills, and grammar patterns are presented formally but are practiced in functional situations relating to the ability to communicate with an understanding of the culture.
