How Does Concept-Based Learning Influence Students?

Concept-based learning, in contrast to traditional learning, concentrates on core concepts that promote knowledge and foster self-learning. The conventional methods simply connect students to a source of information which may or may not be retained for a longer period of time. On the other hand, concept-based learning focuses on making sure that students understand the core idea of a topic which they can apply in their day-to-day life.

Also known as inquiry-based education, it is an education system built around the students. This methodology encourages an open & two-way communication built on understanding and respect. This pushes students to become active, passionate, and lifelong learners. Such a form of education is comprehensive in nature, keeping in mind an individual’s cognitive development, and paying attention to social, emotional and physical well-being.

It can effectively be stated that concept learning focuses on making sense of facts instead of just stating them. It gives rise to innovation, creativity and enhanced productivity.
