The Future of Learning: How the Pandemic has Changed Education Forever
2023-07-24
The pandemic has changed the world forever. Almost a year ago, schools all over the world were shut down as a preventive measure to contain the spread of the new virus. We are well into the new year, and the reopening of schools is still up for debate. Although some states have considered reopening schools for senior classes, no one knows when life will return to anything remotely close to what it used to be.
When the pandemic forced schools to shut down, over 1.2 billion children in 186 countries were out of the classroom, trying to navigate through their education in the new normal, with a lot of uncertainty. It is without a doubt that Covid19 has dramatically changed a lot of things around the world, including education. In the wake of the crisis, India, along with the rest of the world, witnessed an unprecedented rise in eLearning. As education moved to virtual classrooms, schools, and other institutions leveraged online learning platforms to continue the teaching-learning process. In the months that followed, the concept of education changed, making digital learning an indispensable part of your child’s education.
Although the growth in technology was already taking off before the virus outbreak, the pandemic took it to new heights faster than anyone could have predicted. With the adoption of edtech, the country also faced numerous challenges due to the unplanned and forced transition to digital learning. While most institutions were caught off guard, several top IB schools in Mumbai like Mount Litera School International (MLSI) managed to catch up with the overnight shift in education and successfully delivered their curriculum in its entirety.
Here is how we managed to overcome all obstacles to provide our students with the best education possible amidst a worldwide pandemic:
Well Trained Educators
MLSI has experienced and skilled teachers to elevate the student’s performance and for delivering quality education. Our teachers are well-equipped with technologies and received the required pedagogical training. Our teachers have shown great leadership and innovation in ensuring that nothing can stop learning. Currently, our teachers and students are collaborating with the Global Goals project (UN SDG) where 3000 classrooms are participating and over 2.5 billion students are active agents to take charge of our world to make it a better place. Continuous commitment towards our students made us one of a kind.
Engaging Online Education
Relationship before rigour is the motto of our school. During the pandemic, our teachers used the best strategies and energizers to retain the student’s attention and interest. We at MLSI successfully transformed our classroom into a virtual classroom in less than a week’s time, with asynchronous and synchronous teaching by educators across all the grades. The Digital library was shared with both parents and students in the form of presentations and video lectures prepared by the faculty, along with assignments to help them with the child’s remote learning.
